If you’re new to the Grand Theft Auto world and have never played it, not even once, here’s a quick one-liner that will explain the underlying mechanics behind it: money makes this world go round (kinda similar to the real world, isn’t it?). Depending on how much money you have in the game, you can be the king of the entire game or be roaming around the city with a rusty old car.
This is particularly true in a relatively-new edition of the game, Grand Theft Auto V. Before we go any further, you need to know that the maximum amount of cash you can accumulate with a single character in GTA V is locked to $2,147,483,647.00, which is more than enough to buy yourself just about anything that’s featured in the game.
So, the first and the most straightforward way of making money in GTA V is to purchase a GTA Online Shark Card with your actual money and deposit loads of virtual money into your GTA account. However, if you’re not a competitive GTA V Online gamer who can get the actual benefit from it, I wouldn’t recommend spending your hard-earned money to buy virtual guns, cars, and prostitutes.
Instead, I’ll try to offer you the virtual ways of generating huge amounts of money in the game. And be aware that some of these will be legal and moral while others will be straight-up felony or manslaughter – it’s just a game, everything is permitted! So, without further ado, let’s get straight to this guide.

Heists and robberies
As the name of the game suggests, the first and the most obvious way to earn money in Grand Theft Auto V is to engage in heists and robberies. While not the most honest way of earning a hard buck, it’s one of the most lucrative income sources within the game.
When you play online with your friends, particularly if one of them has a top-notch apartment, you can start planning a Heist. There are different types of Heists, be it the Pacific Standard Heist, Doomsday Heist, etc. with different yielding rates and difficulties. You can choose the missions that you can complete as swiftly and smoothly as possible, simply because it will result in the highest income for your virtual bank account.
However, if you want to be dirty and bloody, you can certainly do that. Just keep in mind that it won’t bring you as much money and the chances of getting killed will be quite high.
Gambling
Gambling is yet another popular way of earning a quick buck in GTA V. One thing to note here is that gambling in this game isn’t the most lucrative source of income and there are reports that the games are rigged so that you lose more often than you win, but the new casino games for real money here are nonetheless very fun and still beneficial to play.
But there’s a catch here: as noted above, you can use real money to gamble in a virtual casino in GTA V. And just like I warned you above, it’s still not the best idea to invest your own money in a game that doesn’t allow you to convert generated profits back in real money. Therefore, you’d be better off to use virtual money in the first place – you’d be safe and have more fun playing slots, poker, and all sorts of other games.
Hitting armored cars
The next method you can use to generate virtual money in GTA V is to hit armored cars and steal the money stored inside. These types of vehicles are marked as blue dots on the map and you can easily approach them with shady intent.
Armored cars appear in predetermined locations on the map. One location that spawns five separate vehicles next to one another is downtown Los Santos – around La Puerta and Little Seoul. As you spot a parked armored vehicle and a person approaching it with a briefcase, you can just simply kill the person and instantly get from $3,000 to $8,000 on your account.
Alternatively, you can do a Fast and Furious-type scenario: steal the car and bust it open by either plunging it in the water or blowing it up with a sticky bomb. But keep in mind that this type of endeavor will instantly stamp you with 3 wanted stars.

A bunch of other ways to earn money
There are obviously many more ways to generate virtual money in GTA V. You can just simply google various cheat codes to get instant money refills, although using cheats in any game kind of kills the original idea behind it: you need to work hard to get gratification.
You can also rob ATM machines, shops, and various other places, engage in VIP missions, and even trade stocks. All in all, whatever works for you to refill your garage and gun poach is an acceptable way of earning money in GTA V.
